  1. Well obviously, beer is off limits. But you can buy gluten-free beer...I doubt you could at any bar though.

Other than that only a few alcoholic beverages aren't allowed in a gluten-free diet, including distilled spirits that are added back to the mash and malt beverages.

Here is a list of ones you can use -

Bourbon, Brandy, Cider (occasionally contains barley though), Cognac, Gin, Rum, Schnapps, Tequila, Vodka, Whiskey and Wine.

  2. Any typical liquor or wine does not contain gluten.  There are a handful of gluten free beers put there.  Most places you drink don't really carry them but you should be able to find them in beer/liquor stores.  Depending on where you live you might have to go to a specialty store or try searching on the internet.

  3. Gluten is a large non volatile molecule that will not evaporate, so even grain based hard liquors don't have any.  So that leaves you pretty much everything but malt beverages and most beers.  There actually are a few gluten free beers out there, I don't know if any bars would carry them.

  4. Gluten free beers:

    New Grist

    Bard's Tale Golden Dragon Lager

Ramapo Valley Gluten Free Honey Lager

    Anheuser-Bush Redbridge Sorghum

    Hambleton Toleration Ale

    O'Brien Brewery

    Greens

    Woodchuck Draft Cider

Although recently many bars are beginning to serve gluten free beers, just in case here are some other gluten free alcohols you will be more likely to find:

brandy, champagne, cognac, grappa, mead, ouzo, rum, sake, tequila, vodka and wine.

In terms of mixed drinks, you can have anything with the above alcohols with gluten free mix-ins such as:

tomato juice, clear sodas, daiquiris and margaritas, sweet and sour mixer, etc.

Keep in mind that for the liquors, some cheaper versions are not made the traditional way and may contain gluten. When in doubt, read the labels.
