1. Glycemic index is often used by diabetics. Foods are rated on a glycemic index by how much they raise your blood sugar after consumption. Ideally you want to eat foods that do not immediately spike your blood sugar, but give you lasting energy that spreads out over a period of time. Proteins do this - they give you lasting energy. Sugars and carbs give you immediate energy that doesn't last long. Of course, you want both carbs and proteins, but it is better to choose carbs that have low glycemic indexes. Whole grains are better for this than processed carbs like packed bread or crackers. Good luck!

  2. Do yourself a favor and go to http://www.transformation.com/ and jump on the health bandwagon, it's sort of like myspace for people like us who want to transform their bodies and live a healthy lifestyle.

Bill Phillips' started EAS and sold it and now he has a new and improved product called Right. http://store.transformation.com/Right-Nu...

  3. The GI index of a carbohydrate food determines the impact it has on your glucose (sugar) levels and diabetics should concentrate on low GI foods such as nuts and beans and steer clear of high GI foods such as corn flakes and white bread.

You can find further information in a web search for "glycemic index tables".
