Go Go Sonic takes the stage for Paul Sallis in the Brian Clarkson British Bred Trophy-Final at Hove
The Brian Clarkson British Bred Trophy concluded with its final held on the 15th of December, at Hove, over a distance of 515 metres. The race offered an enticing £1,000 purse to the winner, Paul Sallis's Go Go Sonic, who sparkled to outclass five competitors, crossing the wire in a mere 30.22 seconds.
There was an entry each from trainers, Paul Sallis, Seamus Cahill, P Young and W Wrighting, and two entries from D Firmager. The race was won by the 1/2 favourite for the race, Go Go Sonic, trained by Paul Sallis, timing 30.22 seconds on the clock to hit the wire.
D Firmager found one of his trainee, Romeo Absolute, clocking his track time just a little shy of the winner. Romeo Absolute reached the finish-line in 30.34 seconds, left behind the winner by 1 ½ length. He managed the missed length in a mere 4.38 seconds.
The third in line behind the winner was Guinness Hawk, trained by Seamus Cahill, who covered the assigned distance in the same time as the runner-up, but was unfortunate to forgo the spot by a shoulder. The time differential between the two to cover the gapping length was 4.38 versus 4.35.
Left behind by 2 ½ length, due to the speed of the third position holder was the other entry by D Firmager, Fabulous Student. He raced through the track in 30.54 seconds and thus, secured the fourth position.
The last two to put an end to the race were Fabulous Agenda and Farleyhillian, taking 30.58 and 30.72 seconds, respectively, to finish the race.
Go Go Sonic was most certainly the highlight of the evening, leading throughout the race in pursuit of the £1,000 purse.
This was a second victory at Hove for the black 2-year-old, out of Droopys Maldini and Farloe Fixture, Go Go Sonic, born in October 2009.
Before this, on 8th December, he outclassed Fabulous Agenda, leaving him to finish as the runner-up by gaining an edge of three lengths.
He has won ten races during this season till now, along with amassing second and third positions, but he has fallen to the fourth and fifth position occasionally as well.
Go Go Sonic finished third while competing against the Eclipse winner, Mill Bling Bling, in an open race at Nottingham on 25th November. The winner of the race is now a prospect for the Greyhound of the Year.
Further races in which Go Go Sonic will be participating have not been disclosed yet, but he is just one OR (Open Race) win shy of a hat trick.
