  1. I wanted to do the same thing and saw many other good answers but didn't see too many mentions of using less chemicals.  The most recent "green" thing we did at my house was to get rid of all our harsh chemical cleaners (gave them to friends who still use these cleaners so I wasn't throwing them away) and found tons of recipes on the net for making my own laundry detergent, fabric softener, dish washer detergent, surface and window cleaners :)  I can add my own essential oils for whatever scent I like best and they are usually really simple to make (baking soda, vinegar, etc.)

    Good luck going green!!!

  2. recycling? how about electric car, solar power? happy earth day!

  3. Cut back on computer time, buy energy eficient light bulbs, walk when you can, carpool, or take the bus.

Buy appliances with the Energy star as these are more efficient.  When you throw away things, if the entire thing is not recyclable, try to take it apart and recycle what you can.

Every little bit helps. Thanks for doing your part!

  4. Reducing your impact on the environment is the point of going green. But "Going green" isn't necessarily all or nothing. Everything from short, often cold showers to reduce water waste, recycling, taking your own bag to the grocery store, reducing gas consumption. the possibilites to REDUCE your footprint are endless, so just do anything you can think of to reduce your waste pretty much. ALSO, living green isn't just reducing waste, it is also about being productive and reversing your footprint.. So plant trees, and pick up trash too!! Become educated about this, and in the future you will be able to educate. KNOWLEDGE IS  BLISS!!!!

DO NOT STICK A BRICK IN YOUR TOILET like that guy above me noted, fill a liter water bottle and fix it in there instead, a brick is bad for your pipes. filled water botles are not, make sure when you flush though it doesn't keep running. my bottle gets in the way some times and i have to adjust it!!

  5. dont buy unecessary things that you really dont need to save money

  6. You must drive a hybrid car

you must save energy, switch off your lights when you are in your home at night in the room that you are not using

I'm sure you can think of other things to do.

  7. Your a good person

  8. You can do lots of things to help the environment, like recycle, purchase a water bottle that can be re used instead of buying a bottle each time.Try to walk more instead of driving a car.Instead of using paper towels to clean, use a rag. There is also lots of cleaning products that are environmentally friendly,as well as clothing that is made of recycled material.I use energy efficient light bulbs, they don't use so much energy and my power bill has gone way down.I keep all of my lights off all day long and only turn them on when I have to.

  9. Don't buy anything you don't absolutely need.  Recycle your old clothes to a second hand store.  Heck, buy your new ones second hand too.  You can use the leftover money to buy your hybrid.

It may not be enough to eat organic, try to also buy local food, eggs, milk etc, think of the gas used to truck food to all the stores.  Think farmers market.  Search out grassfed beef and milk.  These are kinder to the planet, and the animals are created to eat grass, not grain which is human food.  You ever try grass?

Grow your own garden.  Make a compost pile.  God bless you, I hope a lot more people decide to do the same.

  10. hope your not doing this to keep up with the jones!

  11. Study, study, study the problem!

Plan, plan, plan for your future!

Don't rely on the media to convince you buy overpriced green appliances as a countermeasure to a so-far unproven theory.

Cars are obsolete!  Stop driving your car.  In fact, get rid of it. (If you have one)  If you must, rent a car.  If you commute to work either move to the city where you work or find a job closer to where you live so you can take public transportation.

Every thing you could ever need can be delivered to you via the Internet, so stop socializing at the mall / shopping centers etc.  Plan, plan, plan!

Stop using as much electricity as you can.

Plant a garden, grow your own vegetables.

  12. Recycle!

    And buy fluorescent light bulbs.

You should email me (go to my profile page) and we can trade ideas on going green!

  13. Plant flowers. Or make ur garden better. ( If u have one that is)

    Stop eating rubbish!!!!

  14. There is lots that you can do to live a greener life but most is centred about using less energy.

i.e.. walk instead of drive, turn lights off when not in a room, do your washing on a lower temperature.. don't use bags when you go shopping, use recycled box's or bags (same bag or box each time) buy food with less packaging.. fit a wind turbine on your house so you generate your own electricity.. try to fly less...don't leave water running when you shave or wash.. put a brick in your toilet's water tank so it uses less water per flush and perhaps eat better and wiser.. i.e fresh products from local producers instead of potatoes that travel half way around the world..

Good luck and well done on taking these new steps.

    Sean

rechargeable batteries ( billions of them end up in landfills every year)

use house plants (not only are they pretty they help purify the air in your house)

Change to non toxic and biodegradable cleaning products (Like Method found at most retailer Walmart and Target)
