"Few analysts see any direct security threat to SA if Mugabe's regime crumbled, even if Mugabe's supporters in the military launch a military coup against Tsvangirai. More Zimbabwean refugees would flood into SA, joining the 3 million Zimbabweans already there. But the bigger problem would be diplomatic. None of the leaders of the Southern African Development Community, including South Africa, could give formal recognition to the leaders of a military coup."

A very interesting article from Christian Science Monitor. What do you think?

Thx;-)

  1. Yes! At the present no one can risk it rather what That gentleman so called love for this continent seem to be ? by critics. Himself has not done enough since he does not wear those credentials as the people who stay and made it better for him to come and have the cushion. Angola has a chance of leading if there is any possibility. In today Africa the political jokes is all how you buy your counterpart to collect the Aid. From Mr Gbagbo To Mr MELES you need to curve it nicely not to draw global village attention so much. Incoming Zuma has already deny the old skipper so Mebki slow process and stand at the moment is not welcome. What he is doing at the moment is slow off the sit to continue entertaining us in his literacy nothing much he dare to pass as healthy as the opposition has already falls foul with him so naive do ANC insiders.

  2. I can't believe the audacity of Mugabe's spokes man!

If it wasn't for the West trading with them and lending them money, Africa would be NOTHING never mind Zimbabwe.

I think the only thing left is military tactics.

It can't go on like this, it's been decreasing since 19- footsack!!

South Africa is only going to get worse if Zim carries on like this! Like you say the immigrants will flood in SA again!

I don't always agree with War but in this case it's an exception!

  3. Ag man, they all talk kak!

  4. Zimbabwe is a pre cursor to events in South Africa and Mbeki is only concerned about his next bottle of Johnnie Walker.

  5. What is the difference between military force and a military coup?  Mugabe became pres of Zim by a military force.  If that is the same as a coup, then he should never have been recognised by any SADC country.

Mugabe is very volatile at the moment.  He does not need much to "explode".  So, maybe it is best that Mbeki and co leave him alone.  They have left it too late anyway.  Any day now, Mugabe is going to tip over, and collapse.  No one needs to help him achieve that.  (I am hoping)

  6. Mbeki better have concerns.  Imagine all those 3 million refugees becoming permanent inhabitants.  They brought with them their ideologies, life styles and political preferences.  Pretty soon they will start exercising their demands as a population group. With high unemployment already existing previously, there is going to be mass unemployment for at least a generation.  Additionally their immigration offset the black to white proportion even further apart and more whites are going to fly the coop resulting in greater brain drain.

BTW Alf is correct, deja vu for South Africa
