Go On Paddy triumphs in the March 375 Maiden
There were no surprises in the March 375 Maiden at Mildenhall in England on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, as the joint favourite greyhounds, Go On Paddy and Cloncunny Peach, finished at the top. The former managed to win comfortably and walked away with a cash
prize of £100.
Following are the names of the runners, who entertained the spectators in the Grade OR event:Go On Paddy,Cloncunny Peach, Pams Hotdog, Cookes Crewe, Gateway Callum and Airforce Mayhem.
Considering the quality performances of Go On Paddy, the bookmakers had awarded him with decent odds. He entered the event with a starting price of 7 to 4 and covered the overall distance of 375 metres in 23.41 seconds.
D. Whitton’s trainee did not have a good start to the race, but he recovered well in order to finish on top of the table. He ran a bit wide and was crowded badly in the beginning. It appeared that he would not be able to fight back from then onwards, but
he showed excellent stamina to comeback.
This performance will give a lot of confidence to Go On Paddy, who will definitely win good odds by the bookmakers in the future. The triumphant hound is the son of Head Man Boo out of Nosey Lady and was born in May 2010.
Second place was taken by Cloncunny Peach, who was the joint favourite to win. She failed to start well and lost momentum from then onwards. She did manage to bounce back, but lacked the speed to match the race winner.
M. Alden’s trainee fell short by more than one length, but she proved that she can match the best in the business for race victories. Her confidence will be high and she will definitely earn a decent starting price in her future outings.
The runner up b***h is the daughter of Black Shaw out of Peaches and was born in February 2009.
Third place went to Pams Hotdog, trained by A. Kirby. He was one of the least favourites to win the race, but impressed one and all with his speed and skill. He challenged the front runners until the end and just fell short of second place by a head distance.
The black dog did not get off to a very good start, as he was crowded badly. However, he fought back hard and produced a decent result. His team would have been pleased with his performance in the end. The third placed hound is the son of Kinloch Brae out
of Malta Magic and was born in January 2010.
The rest of the participants were unable to make an impression and ended up way behind the front runners.
