I was military.com reading articles about special forces, and it said there's a contract were right after bootcamp, you go right into special forces traing. Is this true?, if so will they put me through airbourne and ranger school. if i have to wait for sf, but i go through ranger school, does that mean they will put me in a ranger battalion?

  1. Yes, you can go to SF school if you score high enough on your entry exam AND you have it on writing on your enlistment papers.

Usually you have to attend Airborne School First and earn your wings because part of SF training will require you to make parachute jumps.

Normally you will not attend Ranger School if you go SF. They do not have the same mission, and the training does not compliment each other.

Rangers climb cliffs to capture gun positions, pull off commando style raids do physically impossible things.

SF (also called Sneaky Petes) have multiple function Intelligence Missions. They have trained Bolivian Rangers to track down and kill Che Gueverra, Set up and operated temporary top secret radio relay sites in hostile countries, Gone into hostile countries (sometimes using fake passports, etc.) for recon, Carried secret information out of countries, just to name a few of their known exploits.

  2. sign 18x

good luck, I cant imagine anybody getting through it on first shot and especially first enlistment, you can also get rip (Ranger Indoctrination Program ) which is very physically demanding but IF you make it through then your only ASSIGNED to the 75th ranger regiment, you still have to prove yourself to them and if they think your worthy (and after you have seen combat) then you go to Ranger school and IF you make it through that you only get tabbed (ranger tab on sleeve) and might not ever get the chance to be a real ranger, there are others on here that would know way more than me so look out for their answers.

18x  good luck if and probably when you fail your gonna get put wherever they need you i.e. cook, supply, but more than likely 11x (infantry)

  3. You cannot go to Ranger School, right out of basic training.

You have to earn your way into Ranger school.

But you can enlist under an option 40 contract.

That gets you a chance at Jump School and if you pass that,

Then you attend Ranger RIP ( ranger indoc program )

If you graduate that 4 week course, you will be assigned to a Ranger Regiment.

Then in a year or two, you will be given a chance at Ranger School.

    .........................................

You can also enlist under the 18x enlistment option.

Then you attend Infantry OSUT,One station unit training

    Jump School

    Special Operations Preparation Course (SOPC)

Then attend SFAS , Special Forces Assessment and Selection

    .........................................

Out of the first 798 soldiers who enlisted under the 18x enlistment option.

Only 14 made it thru SFAS and started the Q course.

You must also be 21 years old, to enlist under the 18x enlistment option.

  4. Well thats how it works no matter what your job.  If you sign up for a special forces position then you will go to that specialized training school just like with any other MOS
