Go-kart help?

im 13 and i am making a go-kart. I want to know how fast a 3.5 hp engine would take me being 114 lb in a singe person off road go-cart?

3.5 is too less get an 5hp engine(tht too very less stll)...........it may go i think (max) 60kmh and if not tuned properly than must at least go till 45-50kmh(min)....less than that than ....sell your go-kart and goto sleep...or maybe you can sleep in the gokart itself(sorry i got into a teasing mode....lolz!!)..........if ur thinkin of creatn it outta carbon fibre(!!!) than maybe it must reach 70-80 at least ....good luck....

our home track has rentals with 4hp Honda lawnmower engines, it tops out at 40 kph...

Should be ok to begin with, just make sure you gear it as short as possible to aid acceleration.
