Go live mith my mom (Read Details)?

Ok, this is a long story, but I really need your help so please listen.

My parents split when I was 2 and my mom could not support me so

I went to live with my grandparents. I still as of now live with my grandparents. My dad has been in jail for a long time for second degree battery. And my mom is not very stable so she still cant take care of us. Me and my two little brothers went to live with my mom about 2 years ago with my stepdad who I really liked but he died so we went back to go live with my grandparents. I live with my real grandma but not my real grandpa. I live with my step grandpa. He is very abusive towards me and I am fed up with it. I informed my mother about this who is now in a stable relationship with a guy and she is very upset. My dad started to send me letters about 7 months ago, and towards the last couple of letters I got, he was about to get out of jail. All of a sudden he just stopped sending me letters. I dont know if my grandma is getting them and hiding them from me or not. My grandma and my grandpa told me not to get the mail, so I dont know what that means. I dont know if they are trying to keep me from him or not. I have NEVER met my dad. Anyway, I really want to go live with my mom and her boyfriend. How old do you have to be to be able to choose who you want to live in Louisiana? I'm 13 about to be 14 next month. I also have the option to go live with my aunt in Houston.

sorry about you step grandpa maybe you should live with your aunt in houston if you know her if not your mom but if she keeps switching on and off on being stable then that might not be a good idea. i'm 14 and i never saw my dad either so i lived with my grandma and my mom why don't you just stay with your grandparents and tell your grandma whats happening

You live in Louisiana?  No freaking way!  I do too!  Dude that must really suck(I mean the grandparent thing).  Okay, there's legal custody and then there's physical custody.  Seeing that your dad's in jail your mom can pretty much take you back because I'm guessing she has physical custody. Which means she can control the living arrangements for you. But you never know she might have issues eventually with her boyfriend and she may send you back so I think you should probably live with your aunt in houston.  I mean is she nice?  Does she want to take care of you? If so, go for it.  Houston sounds pretty exciting.
