I am trying to plan my honeymoon and was told that if you have a criminal record and haven't been incarcerated(in jail) than you can still go to Mexico as long as you have no stopovers in the U.S. Does anyone know if this is true because from what I heard you don't need a passport to go to Mexico just photo id and I wanna know if I'm wasting my time.

  1. I do not believe Mexico is doing crimminal record checs like the U.S . and Canada yet.  As  Canadian citizen you may fly to Mexico without a passport...tho, actually you should be able to get a passport if you like.  If you want tovisit the U.S. in the furure, you can apply for a visa...there are ways to  deal with your history. You can use the site below to verify that as a Canadian, you may ravel to Mexico without a passport.  Just enter your nationality and destination and click for the info.  You may get a lot of answers that say you must have a passport...that is because many people do not realize that the laws are different for Canadians than for Americans...and because some people just don't read the question carefully enough to notice that you are Canadian!

  2. You do not need a passport to get into Mexico and the only thing they care about you is if you have $$$.  I took a cruise with my wife with 2 ports of call in Mexico and had no problems.  Shoot me an e-mail if you have any ?'s
