Actually I had the closed caption turned on and it said Mandarin the one time, so I'm going with that. After all I'm assuming the people who set that up were told which language it was meant to be.

It's the Mandarin dialect of Chinese.  It's definitely not Cantonese (I speak Canto), even though some of the words he says in Mandarin sound similar to those in Cantonese.  Hehe, Miller has a horrible accent.  :-P

Yeah, nobody actually speaks Chinese.  Chinese encompasses all the languages of China as a whole, but there are different dialects/subdivisions of Chinese (Mandarin, Shanghainese, Cantonese), and those are the languages that people actually speak, not Chinese itself.

Habsfan, I'm pretty sure it's Mandarin.  Some words in Mandarin sound like those in Cantonese, but I'm almost certain it's not Canto he's speaking.  Unless he tried to put a really bad Mandarin accent onto the Cantonese words... (And yes, I'm doing fine :-)

--Sarah-- Yea, its been a while since i saw that commercial but i had remembered i understood some of the words, so i thought it was cantonese.  Then i watched it again just now and realized it was mandarin.

For the rest of ya'll : It is Cantonese (more appeal as most people of Chinese heritage in North America speak it), though he slurrs his words as do many Mandarin speakers particularly one from Shanghai. (which I can identify with, because when I try to speak Cantonese people say I sound like a northener) As we know though Sara, even though a word can be the same, prounciation can be very different. Like the word for thanks : "shieu shieu" in Mandarin, "shay shay" in Cantonese
