i reccomend doing a little tour in a minibus. your hotel should offer this and the driver will pretty much do as much or as little as you want to.

Your not far from Hampi in Karnataka if you tire of the beach.

There are interesting churches in Goa, and a few old houses- but the beach is the main attraction.
