Goa v Services - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kumar-Shri-Ranjitsinhji-c71870 Trophy - Group C – Day 3 – Live Score and Update
Services 473 v Goa 312/5 (117.0 ov) - Goa trail by 161 runs with 5 wickets remaining in the 1st innings
Services have secured a solid position in their ongoing four-day match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Goa-c786, where the latter trail by 161 runs with five wickets in hand, at stumps, on the penultimate day at District Institute of Education and Training Ground, Porvorim.
After getting clobbered for a massive score of 473 by Services, it was imperative for Goa to mould a long innings in order to overcome Services’ lead.
They closed the second day with 64 runs on the board, after losing only a wicket. Monday’s plan was simple, they needed to counter the bowlers in order to save the match.
The pair of SA Asnodkar and AS Desai worked its magic as the batsmen, without taking risks, kept the scoreboard ticking with the fielders on the edge.
Services seemed tired as the bowlers failed to trouble the batsmen, however, with 122 on the board, the fielding side struck for the first time in the match when Sinha trapped Desai in front of stumps after the batsman had scored 40 runs.
With the lethal partnership finally broken, it was the best time for the bowlers to put their side back in the lead by nabbing a few more wickets.
However, the partnership between Asnodkar and wicketkeeper/batsman MS Bisla was another teaser for the bowlers, as the duo was just too good to be troubled by an average bowling attack.
After posting 156 runs on the scoreboard, Goa lost their third wicket on the demise of Bisla, who after smashing 25 off 38, fell victim to Yadav.
On the penultimate delivery of the 77th over, Yashpal Singh grabbed the prized wicket of Asnodkar, who crumbled after hammering an outstanding knock of 74. By this time, Goa had managed to put 189 runs on the board.
Services were lucky again as after conceding 193 runs; they grabbed their fifth wicket of the innings when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yashpal-Singh-c98226.
However, before things could get out of hand, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ravikant-Shukla-c84215 (78) and RD Asnodkar (52) ended the day with 312 on the board.
