  1. As a former kindergarten teacher, a few activities I incorportated to help with fine motor skills are:

1.Use fun shaped punches (like hole punchers) to make crafts, practice cutting on jagged or curved lines (depending on ability)

    2. Squeeze large sponges to transfer water from different size/shaped containers

    3. Use medicine droppers to suck up water and squeeze out and transfer water in small containers (like ice trays)

    4. Practice using kids tongs to pick up and identify objects (like bugs, etc) or sort objects into different trays (like buttons, beans, small toys, etc)

    5. Playing with playdough or clay

    6. Lacing/sewing projects, for example making necklaces (stringing fruitloops in number/color patterns onto yarn--if you put a little elmer's glue on the end of the yarn, twist it so it's pointy and let it dry, it makes a pretend needle)

    7. Popping packing bubble wrap with fingers

I didn't work on gross motor skills in the classroom so much but here are a few ideas that come to mind:

    1. "Painting" wood outside (like a fence)--using up and down, side to side and circular motions--just use water and a brush, the wet wood will be darker than the dry wood.

    2. Use empty gallon milk jugs to practice kicking.  It's easier than a ball because it doesn't get away from you so easily, so more kicking and less chasing.

    3. Balance beam (you can make one with a couple bricks and a 2x4 and kids love them)

    4. Try using sidewalk chalk or coloring standing up at an easel.  It takes different skills to color at these different angles than at a table.

Here's a link to a site with more ideas:

    http://www.sensory-processing-disorder.c...

It says it's for toddlers but depending on the ability of your child, many of these ideas may also be appropriate.  There is also a link on this site for fine motor skills.  Good luck!

  2. If in England look at the Foundation Stage framework...see what a 4 year old would be doing---is your 5 year old reaching these? If not then they can form the basis of your goals....no point moving child on if they havent mastered the previous criteria!

    Activities:

Fine-pencil control, mouse on the computer, threading/sewing, wet sand-using hands to manipulate (maybe bury small beads that they have to pick up), using fingers to make pattenrs in salt/shaving foam, action songs such as "Fingers All"...anything involving the fingers and hands! Beanbag games are a good start!

Gross motor: Set up obstacle course with throwing balls, balance beams, climbing frame ,trampoline etc to strengthen muscles, test spacial awareness and self-control--i do this by playing "5 Speckle Frogs"-we stand on rope and one by one jump in hoops-does child jump two feet and land two feet or do they fall, kinda skip instead etc.

If you are concerned then you may want to seek other medical/professional advice as it could be issues such as dyspraxia, motor development delay or dyslexia and that will need different support!

  3. Dear friends:

I recommend this site to you, you will never find such a low price, in other places ...

(Which is one of China's largest distributors of electrical products, such as: digital cameras, mobile phones, LCD TV, laptop or notebook computer, digital video, satellite global positioning system, MP4,……, etc.).

They are a good company, we have already established a good relationship, so I would recommend to you.
