  1. Attend pick up hockey games. Usually alot of rinks won't change anything to the goalies since they are far and few that go.

Sign up for an ice hockey clinic  that will help improve your game.

  2. Local rink pickup games, or league, deck hockey league, or just have people throw c**p at you really hard at random intervals. Soccer wouldn't even hurt, anything that developes hand-eye and keeps you sharp

  3. play some street hockey, do some running, make sure you dont get rusty or inflexible.

  4. To add on to the tennis ball against the wall idea... i like using the SUPER bouncy ball (from those 25 cent machines haha)... they're REALLY good for honing your reflexes. Since the rink is too far away, maybe try arranging or joining ball hockey games/leagues. You should also work on building up your leg muscles by running up and down some stairs to help you with your lateral movement.

  5. Get close to a wall and play catch with yourself, learn to juggle, and do a lot of side to side reaction training. basically just get some friends togeather and have them throw baseballs at you and try to catch them.

  6. have you played catcher or shortstop? it can help refine those reflexes. I would go with SS personally because catcher, like goaltending, is tough on the knees.

if you play road hockey you should get different pads. granted the protection won't be the same, but what I'm getting at is that leather deteriorates very quickly on asphalt.

tennis can be good training too, as can soccer.

  7. throw tennis balls really hard against ur wall and make sure they dont get past u, thats what i do when i get bored

to make it difficult or easier it matters how far away u position ur self away from the wall

  8. I know a couple guys who play a lot of racquetball during the summer; they swear it helps with their hand-eye co-ordination; a guy I met at a work event who also plays goalie plays indoor soccer during the summer months (usu. played on a hockey-rink sized facility, so the angles are similar).

    Good luck!

  9. invite friends over and play a road hockey game and play net

  10. go to the local sporting goods store, in the baseball section there is a new training ball, using the same principals as the tennis ball it is built with many of those quarter sized bouncy balls together therefore when you throw it against the wall it goes in a different direction every time, it will really keep your edge on, only goes for like 9.99

  11. have s*x , keep limber! LOL
