Spain’s Euro 2012 triumph has put the Real Madrid captain in the limelight, with current and past players backing him to win the prestigious footballing award.
After coming through the youth ranks of Real Madrid, the Spanish goalkeeper has won everything that footballing world has on offer. Casillas has won UEFA Champions League, Primera Division, and Copa del Rey with Los Blancos, while he has added World Cup
and two European Championships winners’ medals with La Roja.
Following his calm demeanour in Spain’s latest international triumph, the Real Madrid and Spanish national team captain is the face of a latest media campaign to bringing the Ballon d’Or to La Liga with a change in destination from the Camp Nou to the Santiago
Bernabeu.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 remains the favourites to be awarded the title following a majestic 72 goal 2011/12 season; however, with past and present players coming out in the media to support Casillas’ game, the race for the award looks to be wide open.
Cesar Sanchez shared a dressing room with the 31-year-old for five seasons, joined the bandwagon as he argued that Casillas has the right claim to the gong after his impeccable record over the years.
Continuing on the topic, Sanchez remarked that Real Madrid goalkeeper has been decisive for the Capital club and should be celebrated for his services to the beautiful game.
Toni Doblas, Xerex goalkeeper on loan from Zaragoza, also had similar words to say for La Roja captain. He voiced his belief that he has yet to see a player who is better than him between the sticks.
On the other hand, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gorka-Iraizoz-c15189 was more categorical in his interaction with the media. The Athletic Bilbao custodian remarked that no one in the footballing business is against the idea that he should receive the award: "I do not think anyone would say
no”
Former goalkeeper, Toni Jimenez, also supported Casillas’ candidacy. He reasoned that the quiet leader has been a forever presence in the decorated Spanish national team and has been the reason why La Roja players have such a great chemistry.
With half of the 2012/13 season yet to be player, Casillas claim to the Ballon d’Or award is picking pace, after edging Real Madrid teammate in popular polls.
