Goals and assists for the Catalan Giants
Barcelona have been in outstanding form; this was clearly seen after they managed to defeat the los Blancos. The Spanish Champions managed to dethrone their arch nemesis from the top of the table as they defeated them 5-0 on their home ground, the Nou Camp.
Guardiola’s men have been very potent while attacking as they have managed to score 59 goals in the official games and the three players that are mostly seen on the score board are, Lionel Messi; who has found the back of the net 23 times, David Villa; 10
times, and Pedro Rodriguez; 9 times.
Being efficient in front of goal is the key trait of all the Blaugrana wearing strikers but it is not only about the number of goals that the players score but also the number of assists that matters for Guardiola’s side. Helping the team mate with a wonderful
through ball or a cross is just as important as scoring a goal.
Lionel Messi is setting the pace high as the Argentinean maestro has already found the net 23 times in only 19 games. Messi is not only at the top of the goal scoring charts but also the assists charts as he has helped his side with the most assists. Lionel
Messi’s assists included the two against Real Madrid that he managed to set up for David Villa and another one for the Spanish striker against Getafe. He also helped Pedro to score one goal against Getafe and helped Bojan Krkic score two as well against Almeria.
Lionel Messi also helped the Brazilian full back Daniel Alves to score the last goal against the Greek Champions Panathinaikos.
David Villa was criticized about not settling in with Barcelona but there is no doubt that the Spanish striker didn’t take much time to adapt with Guardiola’s systems. It is true that he could not find the net during a few early games but later he did manage
to find his range in front of goal. The Spaniard is now the second highest goal scorer for the Spanish Champions as he has found the net 10 times. Villa has also been outstanding while helping his team mate in scoring goals as he has managed to pull off 5
assists. He helped Lionel Messi score one against Real Zaragoza, Getafe and also Almeria. He also helped Seydou Keita score his goal against Athletic Club and also helped Pedro Rodriguez score one against Real Madrid.
Pedro Rodriguez was in outstanding form last season and he has managed to continue his extraordinary form this season as well. He showed how his form last season wasn’t a flash in a pan and this season he has continued to improve and shine while being a
part of the first team. Pedro Rodriguez has already found the net 3 times in league games and has also found the net during the UEFA Champions league 3 times as well. Pedro has also scored two goals in the Copa del Rey and one in the Spanish Super Cup. All
these goals take his total tally to 9 goals this season including the 6 goals that he managed to score in the last 6 consecutive games.
Andres Iniesta had a very tough last season because of his injury issues; however, this season he has managed to find his form back and the Spanish midfielder has found the net 3 times already. Not only did he manage to score 3 goals, in fact he also managed
to help his side by setting up 4 goals with Lionel Messi benefitting twice from him against Sevilla and Racing. He also helped Villa to score a goal against Villareal and also helped Pedro Rodriguez score against the Greek side Panathinaikos.
