Goaltender Adam Morrison upbeat on opportunity for protecting Boston Bruins net-NHL News
The netminder, Adam Morrison, has spoken of his excitement over the prospects of joining the Boston Bruins as a result of his recent signing off the Vancouver Giants, from the Western Hockey League (WHL).
Morrison is reported to have been awarded an entry-level three-year contract with value and other terms of the contract remained unknown as of Sunday, March 18, 2012.
His signing was confirmed on Friday, March 16, 2012, and with the expectation of him joining the squad soon after.
Following confirmation of his deal with Bruins he said he was looking forward for a team, who are the consistent winners on the ice and it was great thrill to work along with such a side.
He said:
"I know I still have work to do now that they have committed to me for the next three years, but it is exciting in the sense that I'm joining an organization with a winning tradition and a rich history in the NHL. I'm looking forward to the opportunity."
The Bruins’ move is considered to be a lucky breakthrough for the player. He now has the opportunity to prove his worth on the ice, which he had been lacking earlier.
He had to languish in the free agency market for a couple of years on failing of the Philadelphia Flyers to sign him within the two years of his drafting as a third round pick in 2011. He was at 81st overall in the draft season.
Since joining Giants he has played 56 games for Giants and is coming out with the record of 35-17-2-1. His record includes .900 stoppage percentage, including a shutout. He has 2.80 goals-against average per game.
Until recently the player had struggled to attract any team from the NHL and could not hold back the excitement of getting the opportunity, finally. The chance from a winning team is definitely something that the player might have not hoped for.
He is most likely to be part of the team for remaining part of the regular season and then playoffs, which Bruins are most likely to make it to this season.
They are just behind the Eastern Conference leaders, the New York Rangers. However, the score difference between the two remains substantial. With 85 points Bruins trail 10 points behind Rangers’ 95.
However, they are atop of their Northeast Division and confirmed contenders for the playoffs. They lately have suffered a number of injury scares, but it did not affect their run for the second round.
The main goaltender, Tuukka Rask, is out of the side with a lower-body injury, and is expected to take four to six weeks on the recovery and rehabilitation. With a couple of more weeks left to the regular season, he most likely to join the squad in the playoffs.
