Goaltending and offensive capability top questions for Boston Bruins upcoming season -NHL Update
If a lockout does not come into play, the best case scenario for the Boston Bruins would be that they get another Tim Thomas in the form of Tuukka Rask taking over the goaltending matters for the franchise that failed to continue with the momentum of winning
the Stanley Cup back in 2011.
Without Thomas playing in full form and no one to back him up during the postseason, Boston Bruins were knocked out by Washington Capitals and hot rookie goalie, Braden Holtby, who had never played a major league game prior to that.
Bruins need Tuukka Rask to take over in the net and emerge as the next big goalie in the National Hockey League (NHL), but if not, Boston fans can expect the great club of the major league to fall down to the lowest depths.
Offensive and defensive power does certainly play a major factor in every regard but not having solid goaltending will always leave a team yearning for more and put limits on what they actually can achieve.
"I'm sure there will be questions raised when I have a bad game or two, but that's part of the job and I'm sure I can handle it," Rask said, according to NHL.com. "Mentally, everything's fine. But when you play a lot of games and you play consecutive games,
you have to take care of your body. I think that will be the biggest challenge for me, staying on top of that and staying healthy."
The next big thing concerning the Bruins is whether their forwards can get back into shape and lead the team towards another golden period as Nathan Horton is expected to be making a major comeback after concussion related woes throughout this past season.
Being a player that was regularly potting 50-plus points each season, Nathan Horton was limited to just 32 points (17 goals, 15 assists) in 46 appearances. The remaining season was harsh in terms of injury, but the upcoming hockey year looks bright for the
young forward.
Bruins are also optimistic of using their ninth selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Dougie Hamilton, to make a jump into the major league along with Tyler Seguin leading the group of youngsters.
