Goats Cheese what can i do with it?

I have some goats cheese..it's a cheese I never had before...can anyone give me some ideas for using it .

  2. deep fried make a batter whole egg, plain flour, milk water, salt & pepper, roll the cheese in some flour dip in the batter and deep fry for about 4 min's at 180c drain on kitchen paper serve with a salad garnish and sweet chili sauce

  4. it depends if you have soft goat cheese or hard cheese. soft cheese you can make all sorts of things. I like it with balsamic vinegar and olive oil with fresh bread. Try roasted beets, salad and candy walnuts with a vinaigrette. mixed in with pasta and marinara and even chicken. goat cheese is from goat so it is a little gamey (almost like a gamey cream cheese). It is great with a bottle of sancere. The hard cheese I would have sancere, bread, and grapes. Nice little meal in the park (where it is legal to drink).

  5. Ingredients :

    - 400g strawberries

    - 200g goat's cheese

    - crushed black pepper

    - olive oil (optional)

      

    Recipe :

    Wash and hull the strawberries. Cut them into thin strips lengthways. Cut about 1/3 of the strawberries again into small cubes. Cut the goat's cheese into thin strips about 5mm thick.

    Alternate layers of strawberries and goat's cheese on plates, sprinkle with the cube-shaped strawberries, crushed pepper and finally a dash of olive oil.

    This recipe can be used as a starter or dessert.

    It makes a lovely lunch or a nice starter.

    Prepare a small plate with different salad leaves shredded.

    Add to that some toasted pine nuts.  Walnuts will also do.

    Then add to that some chopped up grapefruit.

    Grill the goats cheese - or like I do sometimes, pop it in a roasting tin on some foil and leave in the over for that is preheated for 5 minutes.

    It should be holding its shape but just about to go gooey.

    Drizzle the following dressing over the salad leaves:

    I tbsp honey, I tsp grained mustard, I tsp brown  sugar, I tsp olive oil and 1 tbsp of a flavoured vinegar or cider vinegar.  Shake or whisk together and drizzle over the leaves.  Save a little bit.

    Using a fish/frying slice, slide the hot cheese onto the bed of leaves.

    With the remaining dressing drizzle over the top of the cheese.

    Season with black pepper.  Pour yourself a glass of very chilled white wine and sit and enjoy.

    Its delicious!!!!

    mix the goats cheese (soft variety) with pesto until you get a smooth paste. boil pasta

    in a pan, put olive oil and then halved cherry or baby plum tomatoes. sprinkle with sugar and salt and cook for 5mins till they've given their juice up and become a sauce.

    mix pasta with goats cheese/pesto mix and then serve. top with tomato sauce and enjoy!

  11. Ooooh - stuff some peppers and roast them lightly?

    Have some green salad, pop some lightly heated cheese chunks over it, then drizzle balasmic over it

    Slice it up and onto a nice quality margerita pizza

    Make it into a little tartlet with some salad leaves and thin peppers

    It's yummy any which way!

    Serves 1  



    Preparation time less than 30 mins

    Cooking time 10 to 30 mins

        







    Ingredients

    unsalted butter, to grease

    70g/2½oz goats' cheese

    1 free-range egg yolk

    2 free-range egg whites

    Method

    1. Preheat the oven to 220C/425F/Gas 7.

    2. Grease an ovenproof ramekin dish with the butter.

    3. Place the goats' cheese into a bowl and mash with a fork until soft. Mix in the egg yolk until combined.

    4. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form when the whisk is removed. Fold the egg whites into the goats' cheese mixture until combined.

    5. Spoon the mixture into the ramekin and then place on a baking tray.

    6. Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes, or until well risen and golden. Serve immediately.




  13. Here's one of my favorites...Mix it in some pasta with sun dried tomatoes, pine nuts and fresh basil with a touch of olive oil.  I am sure you will love this dish.

  14. you can put it in a salad, it works well in a frissee and watercress salad, it is delicious with fruits, but what i like to do with it is make an herbed goat cheese and make rolls using bresaola beef.  i use a little bit of rosemary, thyme, oregano (all fresh diced) and salt & pepper, and then spread a layer of the cheese on the beef, and roll it up.  it's excellent!!  good luck, and enjoy.

  16. Take some very thick slices of peeled apple, (sweet apples),  and add a thick slice of goat's cheese on top. Roast them in the oven and then serve them on a bed of frizzy green salads and drizzle them with a mustard vinaigrette. You could also add chopped walnits to the salad leaves or drizzle honey over the cheese.
