Goats of the Galápagos Islands and other species threaten the fragile ecosystem. Should they be killed?

This archipelago, which inspired Charles Darwin's theory of evolution, has been for many decades the scene of a war between two nonnative species that have drastically altered life here. It is a battle of man versus goat.

"Sometimes we have to kill one animal so that others can survive," Carrión, 36, explained.

Man is finally winning, thanks to about $10 million from private donors and the United Nations to pay for the extermination project dreamed up by park officials and the Charles Darwin Foundation.

  1. The goats don't belong.  Make dog food out of them.

  2. Question: The human species threatens the fragile ecosystem of the planet, should they be killed?

I don't think anything should ever "be killed," who would ever have the right to decide what has the right to live, surely not we.

There has to be another way.

  3. man brought them there, man can kill them, for they are killing what man had nothing to do with.

i say kill em all, or move em all, kill is cheaper

it is a similar problem like the caine toad in australia, and the killer bee being brought from africa to south america.

man introduces a species for his gain, and it ends up destroying the ecosystems all around it, and not even doing what man brought it there for well.

we s***w with this planet enough, it is time to start trying to fix it, or just keep our grubby paws off of it, which will never happen.

So we have to try and fix it

  4. Yes, definitely.

  5. If the goats of the Galapagos islands threaten the fragile ecosystem then, yes they should be killed.
