im 15. today i went to register for school. before leaving i smoke a cigarette behind the garage (my mom smokes so i just take and smoke one of hers about once a week, stupid *** idea) and put the cigarette out on the side of the garage. i left with my grandmother, who i live with, to go register. after about an hour of registering we were driving home and fire trucks drove by our car. we got to our street and all the firetrucks were by my house. i was in complete shock. i started hyperventilating saying "no no no no ". this felt like a dream. i got there and ran over to one of the fire men saying it was my house and asking if my mom and older brother were ok cus they were in there. they were fine. just the back half of the garage was on fire so we need to get a new one. my mom saw the back starting to get on fire so she called 911. they put it out the fire before i got there and they were asking us how it could have possibly started. they said they found a cigarette near by and that

  1. best thing 2 do is 2 tell the truth but u dont have 2 say that u were smoking it just say u were play'n with the cig....well just make up something

  2. Considering you already feel less guilty, just continue to let the situation settle.  It's not good to lie, but timing is important.

There are many things I did when I was younger that I didn't tell my parents about.  Now that I am an adult I have confessed to many of them, and my parents actually found some of it funny.  I'm not advocating that you don't tell them for years, I am merely saying to do what feels right.

I agree that if anyone had been hurt, you would have to confess.  But because that is not the case, I would say you shouldn't feel quite so guilty.

  3. bet those ideas of smoking are all dried up now,,aren't they.

if nothing else, one good thing came of all this. you won't be smoking any more.

  4. I dont think this is a guilt issue anymore. You just want to save your rep and not have to face any of the heat.

That's extremely selfish. If I was in your situation, I would be crushed. Your mom and brother could have died, and now you're just glad that they're okay and you get off scott-free.

Incredibly selfish. I hope you never smoke a cigarette again. You have to forgive yourself, but shoving it under the rug wont do anything about it.

If you want to be a real mature adult, then you need to own up to your mistakes. Stop acting like a child.

  5. at least you confessed to us now go tell your priest

  6. Oh My!!! The truth will set you free, at least at that moment. Seriously, you'll feel a lot better if it all comes out sooner than later. Of course you know that there will be repercussions from the fire, but its so much better than your guilty conscience eating at you! I couldn't handle my mom taking the blame for something like that....

  7. believe it or not, you answered your own question. you should confess, if you are old enough to sneak and smoke cigarettes then you are old enough to face the consequences of your actions-that way you can put it behind you as a lucky break of a learning experience. if you choose not to confess the guilt will eat away at you. like I said, you already know what to do, so do the right thing. if you don't want to tell your grandma, seek out a priest or even call a church and confess- it will help get rid of your guilt---good luck

  8. I am really sorry about what happened to you. This has a be a real strain on a young man but stuff does happen and we all makes mistakes. Just be sure and learn from your mistakes. If you do continue to smoke always be careful. There are lots of lessons in life that are hard to deal with, but you will be ok. Keep your chin up and your lips closed. I wouldnt admit to the fact that it might have been your cig that did it. That could cause more troubles than you could deal with. Good luck little buddy. hang in there
