In classic video game industry fashion American retailer, Amazon.com, not only uploads the box art for the upcoming God of War game but also puts up the release date as well.
Dead Space 3 was listed for pre-order on a South African retailer’s website, BT Games, before the information was altered to make it seem like an error, which everyone knows it wasn’t and now it turns out that Amazon.com felt left out and dropped a bombshell of its own.
The American online retailer not only released an image of the box art of Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive, God of War 4, but apparently there is a trailer to go with it as well.
The game is titled ‘God of War: Ascension’ and the box art itself shows the iconic Kratos fighting to free himself from chains that are holding him in place. The PS3 logo, only on PlayStation tag are all there and the RP (Rating Pending) tag can also be found on the cover which adds to the credibility of the listing.
That is not all as the release date for the game has also been given and gamers can expect to find the game on shelves on December 31.
Sony themselves were set to reveal a PlayStation 3 exclusive this week and from the image they teased earlier signs pointed to a God of War game, which although was rumoured to have ended with the third instalment in the series, is back with a vengeance.
As for the story and new gameplay elements, well rumours have it that Kratos is set to fight his way out of the Underworld and there may even be co-operative gameplay as the protagonist’s brother may very well play a major role in the game.
It should be mentioned that the plot and gameplay details should be taken with a bit of salt as those are the only two things that have not been confirmed by Sony or the game’s developer. As for the official reveal of God of War 4, well one can expect Sony to be making the game official very, very soon.
