I like the way Irish radio stations are able to mock 'Lizzy'.

Why doesn't UK media have the guts to do so?

  1. The Queen has been mocked - Spitting Image???

    Why change the national anthem?

  2. NO! The music of "God Save the Queen" has been used for centuries before our wonderful Queen Elizabeth the second came to the throne as the National Anthem of Great Britain. It is magnificent British music so why would any sensible person want to change it just because this country has seemingly become such a decadent over-populated rabble in the 21st Century. As for liking the puerility of Irish radio stations "mocking Lizzy", when she is not in a position to answer back, I suppose that proves the old adage "little things please little minds"?

  3. because shes a lovely lady as well as being their Queen. is it so hard to understand that subjects may actually like and respect their monarchy?

i dont live in England and i am not of english descent nor am i protestant for that matter,  but i still think people shouldnt mock her.  Cant be easy being  in her position, think you can do any better?...i think it says a lot for the British that the media respect her enough to at least try and refrain from not consistently spewing out sensationalist c**p about her and her family.

Something you americans (my apologies cos im assuming you are american) are fond of doing to your own democratically elected leader.

yes indeed God save the Queen!

  4. For fuc# sake let us keep something in this country that means something to some of us, everything else is been taken away

  5. we only need a new one because you forgot the words

  6. Yes it's time for a new anthem, the current one is way too scottish for my liking. How about 'My old man's a dustman' ?

As for mocking Lizzy, we do, and she loves it !

  7. Cos that would be thicko Treachery.

Just imagine what it would have been like if Bliar was the Number 1 in this country - a President ?

He would have been POWER Crazy and would have gone even further than the nutter did on everything.

The sort of people who slag off the Queen are the sort of selfish C*nts who would jump at the chance of any sort of privalige.

Theyre the sort who'd sell their country out in a heart-beat.

  8. I have never Heard an Irish Radio Station Mocking Queen Elizabeth although you get the Occasional Caller on Phone to Radio Stations making a Nasty Remark about Britains Royalty whenever the Topic comes up, this happens very rarely . There is the Possibility of H,M,  Visiting Ireland in the Near Future, and sometimes this topic comes up. Prince Charles has Visited and Edward and Andrew. There is the Question of Safety Issues for H.M.  but She might Visit in Future Date and be very Welcome. As to the English National Anthem it is not a bad one ,I suppose a Hymn would be better,Christ be the Glory nice Stirring Music or Amazing Grace.

  9. I do think that the British National Anthem might be due for a change, preferably to something a bit more upbeat, and nation related.

Whilst I have the greatest respect for our Head of  State, the wording of the current anthem does sound more like a patronising hymn of praise to a great warrior, rather than a salute to the nation of a Constitutional Monarch. The same tune (which derives from an Old Swiss Folk song) is used as a salute to the king in Norway, and Sweden, but they have very much brighter tunes for their national anthems.

Perhaps a popular vote on submissions of tune and lyrics would produce something that many would feel worthy of a new national song, and it might be brought into use the next time there is a change of sovereign.

"Jerusalem" might be a popular choice, but maybe Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance would be the stronger contender given a meaningful libretto for the new anthem.

I wonder why the British would want to mock their Head of State, since Government is left to an elected government, and the monarch is a symbol of a nation that is effectively mocking itself. Is it, possibly a lack of self respect for a nation searching for a new identity?

  10. There is nothing wrong with the existing National Anthem.

If it is the words that you don't agree with, make up your own but just be careful of whose presence you sing them in.

  11. If Prince Charles take over the anthem should be  the Wales-Cymru one as he is The Prince of Wales

  12. I think it's appropriate. We are fundamentally a Christian country and our head of state is the Queen.

    Self explanitary

  13. No, I dont agree that the queen should be mocked, but maybe its time for Charlie to take over dont you think?

  14. American Idiot:P Only Kidding

Keep God Save the queen as the anthem

  15. no

  16. i love god save the queen..

  17. Because the English have more class.

  18. Yes.  In a country which i assume is just England because Scotland and Wales have become independent, "Jerusalem" would make an excellent national anthem.  I'm sure i'm not the only person who thinks this.

  19. Why is it time to change the National Anthem it is a Salute to the head of state ie GOD SAVE OUR GRACIOUS QUEEN KING depending who is on the throne at the time i notice that the Americans dislike the tune so much that they use it as a patriotic hymn (My country tis of thee sweet land of liberty) so if they and others think it is so bad why do they use it there is absolutely nothing wrong with our National anthem lets keep it and stop trying to change things it is one of the few things that hasn't Been changed in  this country and is part of our Heritage which is slowly but surely being eroded away like the House of Lords which the Government tried to get rid of all together so keep it as it is it is a great National Anthem GOD SAVE THE QUEEN

  20. God can't save her she is beyond redemption. It is time the monarchy was axed it has no place in the 21st century. Brits are only patriotic if they are republicans. Let's hope we get our first president when she kicks the bucket - preferably a non-executive one.

  21. only a couple more years till it's god save the king..bare with it

  22. no keep it
