The eighth fixture of the Dubai World Cup Carnival falls on the 9th of February, and the feature race on the card is the Group 2, Al Maktoum Challenge Round II which will be accompanied by the Group 3, UAE 2,000 Guineas along
with the Group 3, Firebreak Stakes.
The rest of the day is filled up with three other handicaps. For all the six races on the card, Godolphin Racing has entered a good thirty-eight entries for maximizing the chances of bagging as many successes as possible.
For the Group 2, Al Maktoum Challenge Round II, Mahmood Al Zarooni will saddle Biondetti, Casamento, and Dubai Prince, while the other Godolphin trainer, Saeed bin Suroor has prepared Mendip, Pisco Sour, and Prince Bishop to contest over the 1 3/16
miles track.
Al Zarooni said: "Obviously we will sit down and look at the entries but all three are nice horses and seem in good form."
The history of Mahmood Al Zarooni trained, Kinglet, and Saeed bin Suroor’s under charge, Rassam, colliding on the race track might just surface yet again in the Group 3, UAE 2,000 Guineas, which will be raced over a distance of a mile.
Prior to this, the two horses encountered one another on 12th January in the UAE 2,000 Guineas Trial that was sponsored by Etisalat.
Kinglet was the runner up in the race while, Rassam finished third, and the race was won by Steven Burridge trained, Dark Matter.
The lineup of those who will be competing again includes Dark Matter as well, so the first three finishers of the UAE 2,000 Guineas Trial will come together again on 9th February.
The race that will experience the flooding of five Godolphin entries is the Group 3, Firebreak Stakes which will be raced over a mile.
Biondetti and Ecliptic will be representing Mahmood Al Zarooni, while Saeed bin Suroor will cover ground with African Story, Sandagiyr and Secrecy.
