Godolphin and Frankie Dettori keeping calmed stances on the new jockeys
Whether it is easy or not for the Italian riding icon, Frankie Dettori, that his role as the principal rider for the Godolphin string has diminished, is still sort of hanging in the air. He has been riding under the banner since 1994, and just this season
had to welcome not one but two young jockeys to share his rides with, Mickael Barzalona and Silvestre De Sousa.
The forty-one-year-old Frankie Dettori has to share his monopolistic role with the two, as the racing manager for the string made it clear that all the retained jockeys will be given equal opportunities.
With the introduction of two new jockeys started spreading the rumours that Frankie Dettori is planning for getting retired, and the reaction from the top class jockey was defensive as according to him at least five more years on the track are assured for
him.
Despite the young recruits, the employers have never for a fraction of a second or even by mistake confused or denied the ace position of their star jockey with any of the retained and not retained riders. With the wide spread growth of the racing facility,
it was understood that at one time or another more jockeys will be needed. Breeding and training the best and then failing to race them in the classics and other prestigious races due to the non availability of a world class jockey is a disaster.
The racing manager, Simon Crisford, also denied the rumours about Frankie Dettori bidding farewell to the career that he is highly passionate about.
"I know he's said publicly that he wants to keep going for at least another five years. So long as he's healthy and fit, I don't see why he wouldn't continue riding for us. And in five or 10 years' time these other jockeys will have gained some of the experience
that Frankie's got.”
"I'm beginning to know him a lot more over here because it's my responsibility to make sure he does the right thing, is well looked after, doesn't get bored, doesn't have a problem with the language barrier, knows the tracks," he said.
Frankie Dettori said the above when the false news of rivalry between him and Silvestre De Sousa started floating.
