Godolphin prepares for the sixth fixture of the Dubai World Cup Carnival, announcing its entries for the Group 2 Al Rashidiya Stakes on 26th January
Godolphin Racing stays stern on the stance of entering maximum amount of representations in all the races throughout the Dubai World Cup Carnival in order to stand strong against the international competition and the domestic challenge presented by
trainers like Al Raihe, M. bin Shafya and S. Seemar.
The sixth fixture of the Dubai World Cup Carnival, that falls on the 26th of January, comprises of five handicaps for which the Godolphin Racing has spread its seventeen entries between the two dynamic trainers, Saeed bin Suroor
and Mahmood Al Zarooni.
The feature race for the sixth fixture is the Group 2 Al Rashidiya Stakes for which Mahmood Al Zarooni is ready with City Style, and Saeed bin Suroor will saddle Secrecy and Sandagiyr.
The six-year-old chestnut gelding, City Style is one of those horses to whom the Carnival gifted their seasonal debut.
He won the Longines Master Collection Moon Phases on 5th January, while the victory in the Friday Trophy on 27th January, 2011, at the Meydan, marked the last race of the previous season for City Style.
Thus, his beginning of the new season and ending of the last one are credited to Meydan victories.
The Group 2 Al Rashidiya Stakes will be an all new racing experience for City Style, who has been given the responsibility to step up in class race along with a change in the surface from Tapeta to turf, even though he has raced on turf before, but
not at the Meydan.
Saeed bin Suroor trained Secrecy was third in the Group 3 Al Maktoum Challenge Round 1, which turned out to be a decent placing and a satisfactory performance in the seasonal debut.
The Group 2 Al Rashidiya Stakes will present a second opportunity to Secrecy to post a victory for the new season.
Saeed bin Suroor’s other entry, the four-year-old Sandagiyr, has not raced since 1st October, 2011, and has not won after the Prix De Pontarme on 20th May, 2011, at Chantilly.
Besides the Group 2 Al Rashidiya Stakes being the seasonal debut for Sandagiyr, it will also be the first time that he will run for the Godolphin Racing. How far would Saeed bin Suroor’s training take the colt would be seen soon.
