Godolphin’s Pimpernel to ace the Sandringham Handicap at the Royal Ascot
Pimpernel is ready to make a comeback in the Sandringham Handicap at the Royal Ascot, held on 20th June, 2012, where she will battle against 17 other runners over the course of 1 mile.
The Godolphin owned runner has exhibited her talent a number of times, but it seems that she is recently going through a tough time, but this is her opportunity for redemption where she can build her esteem once again.
The daughter of Invincible Spirit, out of mare Anna Pallida, has ten starts to her name, out of which she has secured four victories. The runner finished thrice as a runner-up and once in third place.
Today, she is on a mission to prove herself, as she will be enter the field from post 7 under the command of rider, Frankie Dettori, and with odds of 12 to 1.
The bay filly’s season lacks a victory, but she came close to it in her seasonal debut, when she competed in the 1 mile UAE 1,000 Guineas Sponsored By Gulf News (Listed Race) at Meydan on 3rd February, 2012, mounted by Mickael
Barzalona, she fell 5 ½ lengths behind winner, Gamilati.
The Mahmood Al Zarooni trained runner’s worse performance to date is the most recent one when she competed in the seven furlong Group 3 Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket in April, 2012, and finished eleventh in a line-up of thirteen runners.
The young runner will use this opportunity to land the race, and restore her lost glory, which she previously showed in the Totepool Stakes (Registered As The Radley Stakes) at Newbury on 22nd October, 2011.
Paired with rider Frankie Dettori, the filly raced as an evening’s favourite, and justified her status well when she crushed the competition beneath her hooves and came out on top.
This race is not an easy task and the runner may have to step out of her comfort zone to dominate the one mile track, she has the ability, all she needs is a bit of luck.
