Gods saying whats it mean?

Ok one of my friends had to slide down this pole form a 3 story bulding ok. Before he did it, my friend said "Got Speed" whats that mean, why did he says that.

A manager is going to NYC to get a job back for his people, he says "God Speed" before he leaves, why what did that mean, and why do people say it???

"God Speed" is simply a blessing spoken to someone who is about to travel.  It is intended to ask for God's blessings for protection and speedy, uninhibited travel to the person's destination.

the friend must know something like he greased the pole or his inner pant legs   maybe the manager was asking that God be with him on his journey and make the path clear of obstacles so it will be fast  no hindrances  with that friend -did you hear him right?  maybe he was asking you if you got an speed(amphetamines)  well if he is crazy enough to slide dow the pole who knows
