Godsmejudge to skip Bet365 Gold Cup Chase
Godsmejudge will not be a part of the Bet365 Gold Cup Chase (Handicap) Grade 3 at Sandown in England on Saturday, April 27, 2013. He was victorious in his most recent race and was expected to be strong in the upcoming event.
However, his trainer Alan King has revealed that the Irish challenger will miss the action at Sandown. He did not give any major reason for that, but probably took the decision to give rest to his stallion.
The seven-year-old gelding was victorious in his most recent race at Ayr despite not being rated as the favourite to succeed. He was given a general starting price of 12 to 1 and was expected to be fighting somewhere down in fifth place.
However, he performed above the expectations of everyone and surprised his rivals with a stunning run. He did not have a clean race, but still managed to end up on the top of the table by a comfortable margin.
After being held back at the start, Godsmejudge made one big mistake during the race, but the overall distance to cover was over four miles, which allowed him to bounce back at the end of the day. He displayed fantastic stamina to win the race by four lengths,
which was not a small margin by any means.
King was pleased with this victory and stated, “He is such a hard horse to pass when he gets in front so I was glad when Wayne [Hutchinson], who was superb, gave him his head, and we always thought that this would be his race this season, with Aintree in
the back of my mind for next year.”
This was overall the fifth victory for the talented runner, who has participated in a total of 13 events until now. Other than his wins, he has finished as a runner up on four times whereas secured the third spot once.
However, some of the other King’s trainees were unable to make an impression in their respective outings. Despite that, he was not worried at all and praised his runners by saying that they have been performing well over the years.
