So I'm going to MEPS and enlisting in the US. Army this wendsday. I was pretty set on 11b/ infantry with airborne on my contract but my recruiter keeps talking about his job and how he loves it (he is a scout). He supports my goal for infantry but asked me to just think about Cav souts.

So I looked into it and it looks pretty asume.

My ultimate goal is to go to Ranger school and thought infantry/airborne was the way to go, but can cav scouts go to ranger school and be assighned to Ranger units?

Wha is the real difference between Scouts and infantryman. pros? cons? ranger?

Real answers, no rivalrey Bull ****.

  1. Scouts are the prime reconnaissance for a mission meaning they go out at night and take pictures and gather information on their designated targets while infantrymen carry out the mission, it IS easier to become a Ranger through infantry/airborne, but if you become a Ranger Scout it is a prime job to have.  Scouts become Rangers just like everybody else, you volunteer to go to RIP ASAP, but it is always better to get Option 40 on your contract before you ship out to basic as this will guarantee you a spot on RIP as soon as you are done with AIT.

  2. hi well .. cant answer all that good but i will try ... my husband is a cav scout ..and so was my dad ..and neither were in ranger units .. my hubby has always been in a cav unit and loves being first out and clearing buildings ... lots of maps and weapons training ... scouts are awsome ... in my opinion only the hard asses of the army ...some go on to be special forces ..bla bla ... but its ur decision hun its a graet choce tho
