  1. I don't believe history will look kindly on him, I am a democrat, but I pride myself on my objectivity.  Let me mention some of his strengths and weaknesses.

Cons-The war in Iraq will likely be seen as unnecessary and expensive, politically as well as financially.  He limited social programs, and the economy is weak.  He promoted torture and failed to address global warming in a significant manner.  He cut taxes in wartime and blew a balanced budget.  He failed to capture Osama bin Laden, but will likely get of the hook if the following president succeeds in that task.  He dramatically reshaped the way other countries can receive aid from the United States, limiting the number of countries to very impoverished countries that are making strides to democracy.  He failed to address the genocide in Sudan (Darfur).  He encroached upon civil liberties when he circumvented the FISA courts to intercept American phone calls and promoted torture.  He undermined many longstanding nonprofit organizations giving aid to faith based programs over secular programs such as homeless shelters and rehab clinics and AIDS organizations.  He refused to fund any non abstinence only HIV education.

Pros-He was able to negotiate with Muammar Qaddafi turning a state sponsor of terror into a valuable ally in the war on terror.  He gave more aid to Africa to combat aids than any other president in American history.  He spent more money combating HIV/ AIDS than any president has ever spent on any single disease.  He set up the federal no call registry allowing people to have greater control in who is calling their house.  He removed the Taliban from power in Afghanistan.  He set up the department of homeland security to help in preventing further terrorist attacks and allowing organizations to share information. He promoted Cellulosic ethanol as an alternative fuel source and funded research that is now leading to the probable eventual usage of switchgrass as a fuel source that does not cut into global food supplies or food costs and creates a sustainable renewable energy that we can be provide independently as a nation.
