Question:

Goggles at the beach?

My cousin said not to wear goggles at the beach because you look funny and you can't see anything under the water since there's a lot of sand. Is this true?! I wanted to wear goggles because I got sand in my eyes the last time I went and I wanted to see underwater. Also, what is a riptide? I heard some girls yelling it when some waves were coming.

  1. Every time i go to the oceaan with googgles they always came off from the waves. I woulnt do it just in case this happens. Also rip tides are when waves pull you under the water and carry you out deeper and deeper. They have killed bunches of ppl.  A way to find rip tides is when there is a big wave butin the middle of it there is no wave, right there is a ripe tide.

    Hope this helped!

  2. if you use goggles ull see better 4sure but depends on the weather the other day i went to the beach and there was a lot af waves so i couldnt see but i still wear goggles cause my nouse hurts if not...... yeah u do look kinda funky but still whos gonna see u under water? get a snorkel and sounder water its awesome....

  3. Ok watch out for riptides... they bring you  underwater and carry you out into the ocean. basicly not fun -_-. And the goggles, it depends where you are, when i went on vacation to the domincan republic. i wanted to see if you could see underwater, so i tried and it worked! but in beaches where the water isnt so clear like flordia, it probably won't work.

  4. if u are more comfortable wearing the goggles then go ahead

  5. A riptide I'm not sure about, but your cousin is right about the goggles. There's no point in taking them to see and you'll look funny, but they might help keep sand out of your eyes.

  6. There is nothing wrong with wearing goggles at the beach. If it makes your more comfortable swimming, then go for it.

A riptide is just a super strong current near the shore.  It can either pull you away from the shore if it is really strong, or can move you downshore.  You can tell if there is a riptide by entering the water near, say a lifeguard tower, and then when you come out the next time, you might be a few hundred feet away.

  7. 1. You'll be able to see better underwater with goggles and they'll keep sand out of your eyes. Don't worry about what you look like: you want to see as well as possible when in the water.

    2. A riptide is where there's a strong current running under the surface which can carry you in a direction you don't want to go.

  8. You might be able to see underwater if the water is clear enough.  I swam with goggles at Mexico and I could see underwater. It's not necessarly true. A riptide is a tide that if you get stuck in you taken so far out in the ocean.
