Malaysia’s Goh Giap Chin and Chong Yee Han have advanced in the Boy’s Singles event by winning their opening round matches in the 100Plus National Junior Circuit GP Finals 2011, at Juara Stadium, Malaysia, on Wednesday, May 18.
Goh Giap, who is one of the major contenders in the Under-18 category, found no difficulty in beating Chia Yi Jae in a straight-set match of 29 minutes, whereas, Chong Yee also consumed only 23 minutes to beat Yeoh Kah Seah in straight games.
In the opening set, Goh Giap opened his campaign against Chia Yi in an impressive fashion. He quickly reached 11-5 in the opening part of the game, by playing top quality badminton. Chia Yi was unable to match the speed of his aggressive opponent, who finished the opening set in just 14 minutes, with a considerable difference of 21-14.
In the second game, Goh Giap continued his flawless game by manipulating all weaknesses of the opponent. At the end of the opening half of the second game, Chia Yi was behind at 8-11. After the break, he tried to catch up with the speed of his opponent, but failed to stop his winning run. Goh Giap finished the second game by a 21-16 margin, in just 15 minutes.
In another match of the Boy’s Singles, Chong Yee delivered a wonderful performance against Yeoh Kah, in a straight-set match. He proved that he belongs to a different class of the game by playing a flawless game. In the first half, Chong Yee created a gap of 11-6.
After the interval, Chong Yee remained quite focused in the game and left no room for the opponent to score points. Yeoh Kah changed his tactics but was unable to dominate the game against the superb Chong Yee, who grabbed the set with a 21-12 margin, in just 13 minutes.
The fight became completely one-sided in the second set, where Chong Yee crushed Yeoh Kah in just 10 minutes, with a big difference of 21-9. The concluding score of the match was, 21-12 and 21-9.
