Question:

Going 'Cold Turkey'?

Is it unhealthy to completely abandon an addiction instead of weeding yourself slowly.

I obviously can't go on the computer as much when school starts, but will going 'Cold Turkey' give me bad withdrawal symptoms, any advice?

I need to focus on studies more than games.

  1. It is always better to taper off slowly, but I dont think going cold turkey is going to hurt you. I went cold turkey to quit smoking after 30 years of smoking. It was rough the first few days, but got better and easier as time went by.

    Goiod luck to you

  2. Depends if its a physical or mental addiction. What is your addiction?  Extreme cases of withdrawals could even be fatal. Of course these are extreme cases only.  Tapering down to a dose that is manageable is always the best way. It is recommended to take smaller and smaller dose until you are able to quit completely.

Oh wait your addicted to games. Your fine. You won't have withdrawals.

  3. Your plan to focus on your studies more than games sounds like a very good plan.  When school starts you will definitely have less time each day to spend on the computer.  You will already be cutting down.  If you join any of the school activities, maybe you will be so tired by the end of the day, you won't feel like playing those games.  Good Luck.
