Going Away Gift?

Question

I'm moving away to a different state in a month and have a very good friend whoI want to get a little gift for. We haven't known each other for too long, but we're close and I just want to giver her a little token of thanks for being such a good friend. Any ideas?

Get her a subscription to a magazine that would interest her. She will be reminded of you every time she gets a new issue. Just figure out what she likes. Gardening? Fashion? Archeology? Barbecuing? Quilting? Look on line. There are a lot of unusual specialty magazines.

Treat her to a nice dinner. Perhaps a small photo frame with a picture of the two of you.

I would suggest that will remind her of a special time you two have had together.  A shopping trip or a meal at a resturant or just sitting and chatting - something that will bring that to mind everytime she looks at it.  Example: 22 years ago, I bought a small book for a friend when I was moving away and in it I wrote "every time you read this - call me!"  And he has - for 22 years! I get calls every few months and we have kept in touch and it has been great!

You could give her a little basket of notecards, stationery, and stamps, and tell her you'd like to keep in touch.  Unless you think that is too old-fashioned, and that you wouldn't write via snail mail.

It's nice of you to want to give her a gift, because usually I think people give the gifts to the person who is leaving?
