Going French heading for victory by claiming the £32 Free At 32Red.Com Maiden Stakes at Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton will stage the Class 5 £32 Free At 32Red.Com Maiden Stakes over five furlongs and 216 yards on Monday, 16th April. The race has attracted a line-up of ten three-year and older thoroughbreds who will compete for the £2,264 purse that
the race carries.
Among the candidates, four are racing their seasonal debut, five are very lightly raced and only Going French has been racing for a while now.
Going French, Frenchmans Bay’s five-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare, Easy Going, is the leading entry. He has already scored a second position at Wolverhampton through his 2012 seasonal debut. He has raced through the season just twice.
Going French finished second behind the evening’s favourite, Mon Ami Jolie, in the Great Offers At Wolverhampton-Racecourse.Co.UK Maiden Stakes on 27th February at Wolverhampton over six furlongs.
The winner led by one and a half length and had Going French pursuing closely behind with Sam Hitchcott riding. Coming at terms with the third position behind the winner was Derivatives.
A second position in the seasonal debut was not a disappointing beginning for the new campaign but the next start did leave the connections jolted.
On 19th March, in the Bhest Racing To School Handicap at Kempton over five furlongs, Going French finished eighth on the line-up of nine. The winner of the race was Black Baccara and finishing the closest behind the winner, after covering the
half length distance was Vhujon.
The 9/4 favourite of the race, Black Cadillac, ended fourth on the line-up of nine.
Finishing decently in the seasonal debut and then stumbling horrifically in the next attempt, must have pumped the five-year-old to make an impressive impact through the third outing of the season.
Another hopeful entry for the race is Pashan Garh, Anabaa’s three-year-old bay colt out of mare, Mimisel. The young colt ended his career debut by getting qualified as the runner up.
The 4/11 favourite winner of the Play Mobile Bingo With Williamhillbingo.Com Maiden Stakes, Valbchek, had Pashan Garh finishing the closest on 26th March at Lingfield over six furlongs.
Pashan Garh was riding with Ryan Clark and was soon followed by Lazeez. How effectively will he avail today’s chance will come out in the open soon.
