Going To Canada From The UK Without A Return Ticket?

Hey.

I am going to Canada in two weeks time to get Married to my future wife. But I only have a one way ticket because my Wife works for Air Canada Vacations, we are coming back to the UK on standby at the end of June. I wont have my ticket until I get to my future wifes house.

Any ideas what Quebec Customs would say about this? Because technicaly I have a return flight but not on me, the tickets will be at my Fiances place.

Hope that makes Sence.

  1. Hey, if you're coming here to get married to a Canadian girl, I don't think that should be a problem ! But just in case, you should ask your girl to check that, at her job. :)

  2. I don't think that Canadian customs will have any problem with that.  As a citizen of the UK you can come to Canada for up to six months as a visitor, and often people do not have their return tickets when they come - my son-in-law is one example.  When they visit, they do not always have their return tickets purchased.

  3. you may find the airline will not let you board without a return ticket, this happened to me when i came to Canada

also customs can refuse you entry to Canada

  4. You mean Canada customs, don't you? Quebec is a province and not its own country.

  5. Depends on which country you are from, if you are a UK national it will not be a problem.

I have flown into Montreal Airport twice from Europe and the return ticket is not an issue.

Unlike the USA, Canada is easy on people that overstay and there is no check for UK nationals when you leave the country - only one passport stamp when you come in and no stamp when you leave.

If your passport is damaged in anyway then you will get questioned, otherwise just say you on vacation/visiting friends.
