Going To Propose... Slightly Unusual!?

I am Planning to propose to my Girlfriend. Heres My Plan: I have told her that me and my friends are going to watch Football but i will actually fly to new york where her buiness trip is at i told her ill book her flights and hotel beacuse i have a friend who can get cheap hotels so theres a good reason for that Also it will be her birthday on the day of buisness trip so i thought i could surprise her at the hotel check in where i would propose but the hotel i was planning is closed so could anyone tell me of some hotels in manhattan Need to be very luxorious though not a $80 a night one Thanks in advance also phone numbers for hotels would be greatly appriceated

She has gone to New York on a business trip.  She is probably planning to spend the entire time in meetings or making business connections.  The last thing she has time for is an intrusion from back home.

Don't be cheap - get her a birthday present.  The engagement ring is not a birthday present.  

Speak to her parents and ask for their consent to accept you as a suitor for their daughter.

Wait until she gets home and plan a weekend somewhere that you will both enjoy.  Give it to her on a day that will have meaning for her.  You might wait for an anniversary of a special day for you.

I dont know  of any hotels as I have never been there.I thinks its a sweet idea expect  you might  need  know the schedule times of all meetings she needs to attend etc so you  know if there is time  to propose and  to do the things you planed to do.Or you could secretly get in touch with her boss or someone in charge of the trip and ask them the times etc.  Technically  engagement ring  isn't refered to as gift plus she might get suss  and you  could give the surprise away if you dont give a gift  to her before she leaves . Although you have every right  to propose anyway you see fit as it you life Good luck and hope it goes well for you.

do you consider $80 a night to be high or low?

for less than that you will not find much luxury...

Try looking them up online under ritzy hotels in that city. You could also look under expedia, hotels.com, etc.

A luxorious hotel for less then $80 a night in Manhattan.  Am I reading this wrong or are you out of your d*mn mind?  Maybe you could find a luxorious $80 an hour motel just to pop the question then move the fireworks to the roach motel down the street.

Off the top of my head, I don't know about any hotels in NY that would work. It's a big city, and you might want to pick somewhere kinda close to where she is. you could try www.travelocity.com or www.expedia.com or www hotels.com to read reviews and scout locations.

But, on a slightly different note, make sure that, if it's important to her, you've asked her dad's blessing. some girls are funny about that one.
