I am going away on two separate trips in the same month and I'm buying a fujifilm z20fd camera at circutcity.com right now. I'm planning on taking a ton of pictures and video, yet I'm not sure if a 4GB card is worth buying for the trips ... HELP!

  1. Cards are cheap now

video eats up a LOT of memory

get 2 of the  4 mgs

    it beats running out?

  2. hey i went away for 3 weeks and used 4gb, did not use up the memory and yes went happy snappy, also video footage.

    have fun on trip

  3. Hmmm..I like more.  And nikonguy is right.  Video takes up lots of memory card space.  Especially with your camera specs: 10mp model.

If you have and are a member of Costco or Sam's Club, check them out.  They have a SDHC 2pk of 4gb for $34.99.  It may be a temporary price, but regularly $39.99.  Still a good buy.

Yes it's true it seems like we take a 'ton' of pictures, when in reality we don't.  It's more like the hundreds, and a 2 and 4 gb will accommodate more than you'll take.  It'll probably be your video that will take up space on the memory card.  (btw: set your video 640x480 at 30fps for good quality.  Set at a better quality, uses more space.  Setting video to use less memory card space, quality is too pixelated).

Go for the 4gb.  Or 2 of the 2gb.  If you're taking your laptop, download your images you took for the day, every evening.  (Even better to transfer/backup on a CD.  Also review the CD to make sure the transfer was done successfully.)  Then 'format' your memory card (from in your camera) after you've downloaded.

'Formatting' will remove all images and information stored about each image, (i.e. date, time taken, setting used, histograph, etc...) making your memory card free and clear to take more pictures/video.

If you just 'delete all images', that will just erase just the pictures/video you've taken.  It will not remove the information it has stored regarding each image taken.  This old information will still be taking up space in the memory card.  So it is wise to format.

BUT once you format or delete, images are gone forever.  They say you can recover using a software/program.  But it is not 100%.  So make sure you have backups...in your computer or on a backup cd.

Sorry.  This is more than you asked.  Have a great trip!

  4. 4 gb.

  5. I always carry several 2gb cards with me when I travel.

  6. You should buy a 4GB memory card (CF or SD) for your camera. I researched http://www.memorysuppliers.com for an exhaustive selection at very reasonable prices. I placed an order for a 4GB CF Card today myself

  7. just get the 4gig cuz u can always use it for other things and u wont have to worry about it.......... unless u bring a computer, then upload them as u go and bring a smaller card! hope i could help! and have fun!

  8. 4GB even if you dont need all of the memory its always good to have a little extra you never know how much you will need.

ps its always fun to go bizerk and take a million pics
