Going back from Mat leave pregnant, in Ontario?

I have an 11 week old baby and my husband and I are hoping to be pregnant again by the end of this year, so our kids will be close together. I am supposed to go back to work in January. How far along can I be when I return to work to ensure I get another year of maternity leave? I've been looking at the goverment websites, but can't find the answer to my question.

PS. my 11 week old is adopted, so it's not like back to back pregnancy.

  1. I believe you have to be at work for a full year before you can collect mat leave again. Because i remember worrying cause i was only there for 5 months when i found out i was 7 weeks pregnant and was worried i wouldn't be there a year to collect. But i was, thankfully.

So, i would suggest waiting a bit after your start work to guarantee you are there for a year.
