Im getting out of the ARMY after 6 yrs and I'm thinking in going back to college and finish my degree in Engineer. It's not that I don't like the military but I think there's better things for me to do outhere and deploying to Iraq every other year three times is enough. If you guys have any suggestions please fell free to post them.

  1. Chris C - GFY, seriously.

Asker:  Thanks for your service.  I too left the Army after about 7 years time, but that was way back in the 90's for me.  I ended up going back to school and completing my degree.  It was the right choice for me, and if you feel the same way it is not a bad idea.  The deployments to Iraq are certainly a hardship and it takes its toll after a while.

So what do you need to know?  Did you take out the GI Bill?  This will help you pay for college or give you some living expense money.  You can also apply for federal aid through the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  This application will qualify if you are eligible for Pell grants and loans through the government.

Good place to start if you are looking for financial aid advice.
