Going blind... Please read... help?

Question

My little sister (11) is going blind in one eye and refuses to do her eyes exercises and wear her glasses. I try hard to make her do it and she refuses. Is there any websites or good fun eye exercises I can print out or have her try? She loves to read and her eyes are getting worse. Please help me! Also, she's getting new glasses and I'm sure she'll wear them but she still needs to exercise her one eye. We have gone to a specialist but I need some fun idea to surprise her with.

What about Nintendo and buy the fun eye test card, I heard it was great fun but also exercises the eyes

If by blind, you mean her prescription keeps getting worse and worse............ that's  not "going blind."  Eye exercises can lessen, but not always eliminate the need for glasses

It sounds like she has amblyopia (lazy eye) in the one eye.

At eleven years old, she still has about  9 more years of growing and  that means eye changes, too.

Hand held video games like Nintendo are good for eye-hand coordination and was a good suggestion.   Reading any type of book and doing the exercises with that print is a good way to stabilize the lazy eye.

Ask the specialist or his/her assistant for other ideas or computer programs designed for this condition.

as shes 11 if you explain to her what will happen if she doesnt do the exercises, im sure she'll understand. dont make it into a game as that may not work.

omg! u sound like an OSOM sister. u rlly love ure sister dont u?.... well....  i would explain to her about how important it is to check her eye and stuff... and maybe even fource her.... buy the  Nintendo and buy the fun eye test card!.... i think its fun!

I dont know if this will be any help but still,  My wife has been blind in one eye since birth and is poorly sighted in the other.She swears that tools are the answer. She has a special magnification program for her computer called Dolphin Supernova, these are a bit pricy but if you are running xp a second hand one isnt too bad. The older versions of dolphin dont work on Vista so the price is coming down.  She also has a large magnifier which she uses as she is a working artist.  Possibly find out what she likes to do/would like to do . My wife lets nothing stop her as all she needs is the tools!

Maybe she would respond well to an eyepatch (over the good eye) and some pirate-themed games and books.
