Question:

Going blind in one eye for a few minutes?

Since I can remember, I've suddenly gone blind in my right eye for a few minutes on and off. The vision in that eye is replaced with this gray fuzziness and I can only see out of my left. I do have a birthmark on my optic nerve which is supposed to be of no threat to me. I've had another friend describe this same sensation to me and I was wondering what is it? Why is it only my right eye?

  1. I agree with the TIA suggestion.  I have very bad migraines and have vision effects before each migraine.  TIA and migraines are related neurological problems, and they are both signs of a higher likelihood of stroke.

Go see a neurologist, and if you have headaches too, then go to one who specializes in headaches.

  2. there must be some refractive error with over correction---consult your eye doctor at once.

  3. Have you seen an opthalmologist? I had the same thing and it was a TIA, a stroke warning. I had to have surgery on my carotid artery immediately. Please do not ignore this warning. You could lose your sight in that eye or have a serious stroke.
