  1. Sleeping bag

Tent - up to you, if there is a chance of rain I would take one

Backpack is only needed if you are packing in to the camp site

some sort of camp stove especially if there are fire restrictions

Three complete changes of clothing. In summer heat, I suggest jeans and tee shirts. Don't forget SOCKS!!!

A digging tool such as a folding shovel or even a good garden trowel.

A good knife such as a 7" buck knife with a belt sheath. A folding pocket knife will be better than nothing.

A COMPASS and TOPO maps of the area! If you plan to hike this could be the difference in eventually finding your way back to camp and getting there when you want to.

Butane lighters or waterproof matches for starting a fire IF NEEDED.

A cell phone just in case.

    Basic first aid kit

spool of nylon twine (comes in handy)

Water containers that are easy to carry. Some f***y packs have water bottle holders attached. I got mine at walmart

Camp cook ware. Even the cheap mess kits are OK as long as you get the stainless steel version.

FOOD! I use a lot of canned food because it is ready made, easy to use, requires no refrigeration.

Bring a water supply with you in case there isn't a ready water supply in the area.

    Just some of the basics!

  2. Tent

  3. When I go camping by myself, I hook up my little Mini Camp Trailer to my Jeep, which has all the comforts of home built into it.  I drive where ever I need to get to where ever I need to go....... then, set up camp and stay as long as I need.

I open up the Trailer, fill the Air Matress,  set up the Stove, put the Ice Chest in a shady area,  I set up the Portable Shower, put the dogs on a lease and spend the next few weeks "Camping".  Don't forget to bring your Fishing Gear, and Dog Food.

  4. Here's a list from the Academy Sports & Outdoors website. Of course, you need to made modifications for your own use, and use common sense, or you'll need an extra truck just to carry the stuff.
