OK, so i'm a baby. I'm going canoeing and i HATE being cold. When i go, the temp outside will be 65-70 degrees F. The water temp will probably be 40-50 degrees F. i know a swimsuit and shorts will not be enough. Should i wear a wetsuit? If so what kind. Hopefully, i won't be in the water at all, but if i am i don't want to freeze my buns off.

  1. Best choice; Dry Suit with synthetic underwear beneath it. Next choice; Wet Suit with synthetic underwear beneath it. Another choice; Water Resistant shirt and pants with adequate underwear. Hypothermia (low body temperature) is possible with sufficient time in cold water and can be fatal. Do not use an aluminum canoe in the 40-50 degree F. water. It will be like a refrigerator! Wool is an oft recommended costume. It is deadly when wet! Safety rule: Get out of cold water! Wear a PFD. No alcohol.

  2. I'd wear a swim suit with shorts and a T-shirt over it. Worried about falling in a freezing your buns off? Take a trash bag and put in 2 towels, underwear, sweat pants, and a long sleeved shirt. I'd probably double bag the extra clothing and rubber band it really tightly at the top. That way, if you take a spill, you can get our of your wet clothes and into some warm dry clothes and wait for help.
