Going down to baja with my birth certificate?

Can I do this? My mother is sick and I need to be threre,have an expired passport2003,I know I need to update it,got the forms yesterday.Can I cross with a vaalid birth certificte?Oh yeah,crossing from San Diego to T.J.

I wouldn't do it.  It might be easy to get down, but coming back you are going to have a lot of problems.

Why don't you explain your situation to the officials that issue the passport.  I used to issue passports (in Canada) and we always made provisions for people who required an emergency passport.

Take your expired passport and all the I.D you have to get back home .

All they are interested in is who you are and are you a security threat.  With your story they certainly cant deny you entry if you are American.

I came trough and the I.N.S. guy squinted enough to see the Canadian flag on my resident card-- smiled and said have a good day.

You Do Not need a valid passport to travel by sea and land until June 2009.

There are too many variables and I usually dont but I will assume your birth place is the U.S.A

You can cross over but you can't come back with out the passport.

you can cross,but they wont let you back into the US without a VALID photo ID.
