  1. hi. i moved to canada from the usa. you can call this no. 1 800 O Canada that is a letter oh before the c and ask for tax info from revenue canada, cnd version of the irs. good luck. you may not have to pay that much on taxes. contact the irs at www.irs.gov there are rules on working on canada and maybe call the us state dept at www.state.gov or call the us fed operator for nos at 1 800 fed info. good luck.

be prepared for a bit of anti americanism.

  2. It appears that you are a non resident of Canada, and therefore you would not be able to claim any personal tax exemptions or credit (unless you report 90% of your world income in determining the cdn taxable income).

Assuming that you are paid biweekly for the $2800 over the 8 weeks, the payroll deductions and net pay cheque biweekly to you will be:

Pay period  Biweekly (26 pay periods a year)

    Province of employment  Alberta

Federal amount from TD1  Claim Code 0 (No claim amount)

Provincial amount from TD1  Claim Code 0 (No claim amount)

    --------------------------------------...

Salary or wages for the pay period  700.00

Total EI insurable earnings for the pay period  700.00

    Taxable income  700.00

Cash income for the pay period  700.00

    Federal tax deductions  93.11

    Provincial tax deductions  65.99

    Total tax on income  159.10

    CPP deductions  27.99

    EI deductions  12.11

    Total deductions on income  199.20

    Net amount  500.80
