Question:

Going from Christian to Agnostic to Atheist daily?

I dont know what is wrong with me but it seems that my beliefs change on almost a daily basis. Sometimes I believe wholeheartedly that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God and then less than a mere 24 hours later, I believe that there is no way to know if God really exists or not...Then on another day I believe that there is no way that a God exists and all these religions are just mythical stories made up so we dont have to face the sobering truth that once we die, THATS IT. This process goes on constantly. Is there anybody out there that can give me some advice or are facing this daily battle themselves. Thanks for listening and, for this moment, God bless lol

  1. The truth is that there is no god.  Search hi and low and you won't find it cause you can't find that which doesn't exist.  Welcome to reality!  Take the blue pill or the red pill now...

  2. im not trying to offend u, but if ur opinions are cycling that fast and to that degree, then maybe you need to see a counselor? don't take it bad, i mean i have psychological problems myself. I'm just saying that maybe there's something going on that u need some help with and the symptom of the problem is you constantly cycling through religious beliefs.

otherwise, take some time to think about it and then pick what u believe.

  3. You are NORMAL!

This world is so screwy, especially with religion. The reason why people are trying to convert you is because you are showing "weakness". Everyone tries to convert each other, and that's what you are experiencing. I personally am an atheist, and would love for religion to not even come up, but let me explain why atheists are so devout.

For thousands of years, religion has tried to "save" people using every imaginable way: torture, war, executions, terrorism, outcasting freethinkers, lying about history, denying scientific facts, you name it. Atheists/agnostics would love it if we could respect their beliefs, and they could respect ours, but it won't work. You must fight fire with fire. You get shot at, you shoot back. Atheists are so evangelical because it's the only way for us to get any respect. Christians will try to "save" you, atheists are trying to keep atheism alive.

Do you know what you should do? You should think about it. Do you really believe that a woman made from a rib from a man made from dirt was convinced by a talking snake to eat an apple? If you do, you're a christian, if not, you're either a deist, agnostic, another religion, or an atheist.

  4. Start to recognize the elements that interfere with your faith, or contradict it, and avoid them. Read the Bible and strengthen your faith. Don't pay attention to what those who are lost say about Christ or about how the world began or what will happen when you die. They know nothing. Christ says that He is the TRUTH. You can trust that His Word is true!

Take a look at your own body, for starters. It's obviously sculpted, like Michelangelo's statue of David. Who sculpted it? It's quite obvious that it didn't get that way by accident.

People can look at this computer and believe that it is intelligently designed (even though they never saw the person who designed it), but then at the same time look at the human body, which is millions of times more complex than a computer, and say that it came about by accident? That's not even logical, and I thought atheists worshipped at the altar of logic.

Also look at the mental/emotional capacity of humans, how "aware" we are of ourselves, and all our experiences and memories, only to die after 80 short years? What was the point of all that, if there is no afterlife? God intended us to live forever in fellowship with Him, but sin cut our lives short. However, he had a plan; two thousand years ago, He paid the price for our sins on the cross at Calvary, so that once again we have a chance to live forever in fellowship with Him.

It's true that we must all die once, but when Christ returns, we (the Saved) will be resurrected back to physical life in a perfect body from our graves.  The only people who will never taste death are those who are alive when Christ returns. They will simply be translated. You and I can trust in the promises of God - Show me one promise in the Bible that He's ever made that He's broken? We can lift our heads up and anxiously await His soon return. Things on this Earth are going to get worse and worse, but we keep looking up, because that means that Christ's return is even more imminent.

  5. There are all sorts of ways to perceive of God/Goddess/The Great Whatchamacallit/The Great Mystery/etc.  You are not limited to believing in the Biblical version of God, or not believing in that version of God, or not knowing if you believe in that version of God.

For example, Pantheists believe that God/Goddess/etc., being infinite, encompasses everything.  The Pantheistic view is that God isn't just the old guy sitting up in Heaven judging everyone.  Pantheists believe that the Deity (just to consolidate all the terms) is everything around us, the earth, the sky, the sea, the animals, the plants, the people, the rocks, the atmosphere, atoms, the stars, time, space, thought, nothingness, spirit, and ... everything.   How can something that is infinite have limitations on its manifestations?  I don't see how it could.   I also happen to believe that this infinite deity also encompasses all the deities of all cultures from all times.  Again, it's that infinity thing -- what ISN'T part of infinity?

Maybe your cycling through three different viewpoints just means that NONE of those viewpoints entirely works for you, so maybe you just haven't found the spiritual path that is right for you.  You might want to look into Buddhism, or some sort of Paganism.

Here's a fun test to take:  Belief-O-Matic.  You can find it at www.beliefnet.com.  It asks you 20 questions, and then it matches the beliefs you already have to religions that agree with YOU, rather than you having to change your beliefs to fit yourself into some religion.  It shows you how closely your own beliefs jive with those of about 50 very diverse spiritual paths .. from Buddhist to Evangelical Christian to Pagan to Mormon.

    Good luck.

  6. This sounds like a  Monothematic delusion. . .look it up

or it could be what people like to call De-conversion

  7. WATCH THIS

  8. The only way to know if God exists is to already have so much faith that it makes no difference.  It is definitely possible that when we die, that's it.  I guess you'll just have to sit down, think it over, and figure out which one makes the most sense to you.

  9. Rom 10:17 So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Jam 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded.

  10. Stop quickly. If you believe in God stay at one religion. Do not convert please. Stay believing in God. U should convert to Islam though. Trust me. Read the Qur'an in english version. Just try it, just read like a verse. Please u will love it and u will go to heaven!! I am trying to save u. Never take ur beliefs off God. God is Great!!!!

  11. Hang in there and work with it.  You'll probably settle more on somethign after you've experienced more to life.  Though one reminder: monotheism (or the lack there of) isn't the only way to look at the world.

  12. where you at one time christian? you may be losing your faith slowly, if thats true just ride it out and welcome to atheism

  13. Sounds like you're trying to find your footing.  Just keep seeking God by reading the Bible.  You'll find your footing eventually.  It's ok to ask questions, you want to know what you're believing and why.  And a sincere heart is something God enjoys working with.

  14. I'd say your common sense is trying to get you to think logically.

  15. Welcome to the seeker club. Just so you know I believe in no earthly Deity. I do believe that there is a cosmic energy Not a sentient one but one that we are all part of. Easy analogy Star War "The Force"

Neither good nor evil, just opposing sides of the energy.

Some exist only on one side, I travel through both as I see fit.

I think our souls are the part of this energy and our bodies just the casing it exists in. Your soul is old enough that it knows there are vast possibilities and it is searching for the truth.

I see the biblical God as one who knew how to tap into this energy but is not the creator of all. I think the biblical God was a space alien that created a hybrid race that is now modern man. Jesus having a closer connection {DNA more alien then human} was able to tap this energy to more of a degree then humans. He might not have know his origins So believed he was the son of God.

Now to p**s off the Christians cause I know they don't like this answer. If Your God created all, us included, are we not all the sons and daughters of God.

Thumb me all you want. Just as others judged  Jesus and Crucified him for his beliefs I will stick to mine just as he stuck to his. Forgive them father for they know not what they do. When a teacher walks amongst them they shall persecute him for his teachings if they are not their beliefs.

  16. This sounds familiar... almost dejavu - of myself.

I was born to a Roman Catholic family, very religious. Yeah, my mom had her issues - my grandparents were the once who raised me.  I considered myself the oddball of the family.  My cousins, aunts uncles were the "ideal" families - but I knew they at least excepted me, hehehehe (they 're stuck with me, anyways).

I questioned my beliefs, and why these things were happening in the world.  Why did bad things happen? Why did people act the way they did, specially those who did things to others.  Why was it allowed...

I began my "journey". I was encouraged to be open-minded to other people's beliefs - whether they be christian, as myself, Buddhist, Muslim, Jewish or what have you.  I'm still on this very interesting journey.

Life is a journey, I've learned and still continue to learn and enjoy.  This phase you're going through - its just the beginning, no matter what age you are now.  It'll be interesting, at times frustrating, heart-wrenching... but the there will be moments that will give you this indescribable feeling of elation.

I read the bible, but listen to others too.  A friend lent me her Koran once - I was fortunate to have her as a friend who helped enlighten me on her beliefs.  Others have taught me the beauty of life; why old age was something of an honor, why even small children could teach me a thing or two about life.

Life is like a journey at sea... calm sometimes, stormy the next moment.  People along the way has helped me keep afloat, dark times I've learned to hold on also to what my grandfather calls faith.

But you know, sometimes I still wonder, who really is the captain?

Just my two cents worth.  And thanks for this chance in letting a fool babble away...  :)
