Going from Mediacom cable box to HD DVR ?

Question

I already have mediacom they installed the cable box.. we requested a HD DVR and they told us it was ready for pick up today... Ok Great... but im not quite sure how to install it and there is no directions with it, just another remote that looks exactly the same as the first very different from comcast cable.. sigh... Help anybody w/ installation?

Does this HD DVR replace the original cable box.. yes.. no? How do i install and use it?... I know some of you have this lol..
